The A to Z, Greener for beginner’s course.

50 Videos – 6 Modules – From 0 to Green in 4 months

When you are sure you want to run a more sustainable business but you do not know how to start. This course, will guide you from the first steps towards sustainability, with training provided from the General Manager to the Housekeeping assistant and everyone else in between.  The 6 Course Module’s can be completed in 4 months, but you will have access to it, and support from the Fifty Shades Greener team for 12 months, to ensure you have implemented all the actions given.

The course also includes downloadable workbooks for all 6 modules, the 50 Shades Greener Charts to help you monitor your utilities and templates and
sample bills to make your journey as easy as possible.

On completion of the course, and the course assessments, you will receive a certificate of completion for your business, and Fifty Shades Greener approved
digital badge for your website and online channels

Module 1: For the General Manager

The 3 pillars of sustainability, choose the best Green Manager and Green Team and run effective Green Meetings at your workplace.

Module 3: Green Manager, Water

Start reducing water use at your workplace implementing systems and processes that will allow you reduce your utilities without any major capital investment. This module also includes employee awareness videos to be sent to your entire team, so that they also understand why you are doing what you are doing and how they can help you ensure your Green programme is successful.

Module 5: Green Manager, Energy

Reduce your business energy use, and therefore your energy bills, with our easy to implement energy management systems and employee awareness videos.

Module 2: For the Green Manager, Baselines and Green KPI’s

Setting up the starting point of your Green Journey, baselines and KIP’s, understand your utility bills, monitor and benchmark in a monthly basis to report on your results and targets.

Module 4: Green Manager, Waste

This module helps you understand what waste you are producing and give you the right tools to start reducing this waste production, reducing your waste bill costs. It also includes employee awareness videos to let everyone know what you are trying to achieve and how they can help you.

Module 6: Green Manager, Marketing

Teaching you how to present your green messaging and market your green efforts in the right way, plus how to enter Green awards and win them. This module also includes a video lesson to create your business Environmental Policy.

Energy Management

The Energy Reduction Course is made out of 14 steps, 14 actions that any Green Manager can implement at a hotel or restaurant. Each action will either teach how to monitor, or reduce Energy use at a Hospitality Business. The course also includes 2 employee awareness videos so that your entire team can be notified of your business Green Journey and how they can help implement environmental systems at your property.

There are 3 modules on this course:

Water Conservation

The Water Conservation Online course is made out of 8 Steps, 8 actions that will teach a business how much water they require, how that compares to industry good practice standards, the opportunities to implement actions that will reduce their water use and a section on reporting and monitoring that can be used after the course is completed. It also includes an employee awareness video to let your entire team know about your Green Journey and how they can help implement water conservation systems at your business.

The course includes the following actions:

2. Establish if you have a leak
3. Meter your water use
4. Reduce your water flow in taps & showers
5. Reduce your water flow in cisterns

Waste Reduction

The Waste Reduction Online Course is made out of 15 steps, 15 actions that any Green Manager can implement at a hotel or restaurant. Each action will either teach how to monitor, or reduce waste at a Hospitality Business. The course also includes 3 Employee awareness videos to ensure your entire team is aware of your Green Journey and the systems they can help you implement.

There are 3 modules on this course:
1. Plastics & Packaging
o Employee awareness video – plastics
o Abolish single packaged sauces (The #SaucyChallenge)
o Abolish all mini toiletries
o Review and abolish other single use plastics
o Buy items in bulk
o Donate old items to external organizations

2. Landfill Waste – the fundamentals
o Understand your waste bill
o Calculate your customer & Staff numbers
o Calculate your landfill waste start point
o Employee awareness video – Waste Segregation
o The right bin in the right place
o Check your bins (abolish the top most disposed item from your operations)
o Check your waste collection area

3. Food Waste

o Set a good stock rotation system
