Tourism Excellence Uganda

Tourism Excellence Uganda

About The Project

Uganda is known for its beautiful nature, its unique flora and fauna and its cultural wealth. This makes the East African country very attractive as a tourist destination. In order to put tourism on a sustainable path that strengthens local value creation and preserves natural resources and cultural heritage, our project “Tourism Excellence Uganda” is focusing on sustainable tourism development. We are financially supported by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA).

In the project “Tourism Excellence Uganda” we are five partners teaming up to promote quality and sustainability standards and to support the development of new responsible products in the tourism industry in Uganda by establishing a local qualification network.

About The Partners

The Swiss tour operator Private Safaris, a specialist brand of DER Touristik Suisse AG, the German consulting and certification organisation TourCert, the sustainable tourism consulting expert from Kenya STTA, the Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO) and the Uganda Hotel Owners’ Association (UHOA), are joining forces to set positive impulses in Uganda and create sustainable tourism offers.

About The Project Activities

As a first step, we have carried out train-the-trainer trainings within the team and adapted TourCert’s methods to the context of East Africa.

Together, we have developed special sustainability training tools that enable Ugandan tourism companies to establish sustainable business practices and to integrate sustainability within their organizational culture.
