10 Sustainable Tourism Trends to Watch in 2023

Nairobi, Kenya – The Sustainable Travel & Tourism Agenda (STTA) published ten (10) sustainable tourism trends to watch in 2023 today. The ten trends highlight issues that have persisted in the post-pandemic action list for restarting tourism and are critical for building tourism resilience.

The list includes tourism decarbonization, value chain transparency, consumer accountability, the role of new media, and over-tourism. Others are reskilling the tourism workforce and increasing access to tourism.

“The pandemic exposed flaws in existing tourism infrastructure that must be addressed,” says STTA founder Judy Kepher-Gona. Significant initiatives and programs have been launched since 2021 to close gaps and build resilience through sustainability. “To address the gaps, the entire tourism value chain must be engaged,” she added.

STTA will focus on these ten areas in the coming days and throughout the year through its knowledge programs, creating opportunities for stakeholders and interest groups to discuss them and come up with SMART actions.
