Judy Gona

Executive Director

Judy is the founder and Executive Director at Sustainable Travel and Tourism Agenda- STTA, with over 20 years’ experience working in sustainable tourism in the continent and beyond. As a thought leader in community integration in tourism, pro-poor tourism and all matters, inclusion, equity and diversity, Judy has been instrumental in driving sustainability debates and dialogues in the continent leading to transformation in practice, and piloting of tools and system to support sustainability. Overall interests include systems of appreciation and incorporation of host/resident communities in tourism, systems of community integration in the tourism value chain, authenticity in culture and heritage, storytelling, community assets valuation, and accelerating the integration of SMMEs into the tourism value chain.

CPA Humphray Odongo

Finance and Human Resource

Holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting Option) from The University of Nairobi. He is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA-K) and an active member of ICPAK. With over a decade of experience in financial management, he has worked with both profit and not-for-profit organizations, SACCOS, and in public sector accounting. Currently, he heads the Finance & Human Resource department in the institution.

Josephine Kimko

Monitoring & Evaluation

Josephine, a dedicated Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Associate, holds a bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources Management and a master’s degree in M&E. With a career focused on sustainability, she collaborates with diverse stakeholders to design, implement, and evaluate development programs. Josephine excels in utilizing various M&E methodologies, quantitative and qualitative research techniques, and data analysis to drive evidence-based decision-making. Passionate about participatory monitoring, she empowers communities for sustainable impact. Advocating for sustainability and stakeholder engagement, Josephine's expertise ensures environmentally sound, socially equitable, and economically viable development initiatives, leaving a positive legacy for future generations.

Michael Mugendi

Marketing & Communication

Michael is a dedicated professional with a robust background in tourism management. Currently pursuing a Master of Science in Sustainable Tourism and Hospitality Management at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, Michael also holds a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Machakos University. His academic journey is complemented by professional development courses in Sustainable Destination Management from Cornell University, in New York USA and Digital Marketing with Eco-Africa Digital, from South Africa. Michael's career spans various roles, including serving as the Marketing officer at STTA Kenya. He is also the lead for the STTA Youth Mentorship program, The STTA Young Change Makers program.

Dominic Wanjiru

Program Assistant

Dominic is an ardent sustainable tourism leader and a climate action enthusiast. He holds a degree in Travel and Tour Operations Management (BSc) from Moi University; a Climate Friendly Travel Diploma offered by SUNx Malta at the Institute of Tourism Studies (Malta); and a certificate in Sustainable Destination Management by Cornell University. He is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Responsible Tourism Management at Leeds Beckett University. In his current role, he serves as a Program Assistant where he leads the development, implementation, and support of various programs including those that focus on climate resilience building.

Gloria Kendi

Communications and Visibility

Gloria Kendi, a dedicated Communications and Media Professional, holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication and Media from Laikipia University. With a career focused on effective communication strategies, she collaborates with diverse stakeholders to enhance visibility and engagement for development projects. Gloria excels in crafting compelling narratives, utilizing various communication channels, and leveraging media platforms to amplify project impact. She is passionate about empowering communities through effective communication, and advocates for inclusive and participatory approaches to storytelling and engagement.
