With each new year, we are compelled to look back at what we have done, and where we have come from, and do our best to predict what will happen next, and what we’d like to do moving forward. Things do not, or cannot stay the same in our industry if we hope to achieve the goals we constantly set within local and international policy. The onus lies with every one of us to analyse the trends of happenings around us and work towards these goals collectively and decisively.

As the world edges closer to the 2030 deadline for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the tourism industry will see accelerated efforts in policy, practice and management of tourism towards sustainability.

Sustainable tourism trends in 2025 will mirror this shift. 2025 could mark the beginning of consolidation of actions to meet global targets before 2030. There will be a race for the finish line, motivated by fast changing consumer choices. These trends will lead to meaningful and measurable acts that will contribute to global consciousness and accountability.
